The image was made in a very cold winter day in Western Carpathians, Apuseni Mountains - Bihor Mountains from Romania. The image was made in March 2013, high on the mountain the winter it was still present, and the snow layer was very consistent, over 2 m of snow. I had no problems with the snow because it was frozen ice. I was with another photographer friend, I wanted to photograph the sunset, but for the moment the weather was dark, I was in a ceiling of clouds and fog. While looking for interesting trees to photograph and moving so as not to freeze from the cold, I found these interesting shapes in the snow and positioned myself so as to catch the trees right behind these shapes, I wanted this interesting close-up to lead the eye to those trees. It is a simple scene with few elements, but with a great impact. These shapes in the snow look to me like broken wings, hence the name of the image.
